William Blackmer Canada OBITUARY
William Blackmer Canada, who was born on November 8, 1939, in Tulsa, OK, passed away on November 3 after fighting prostate cancer. He went to school in Tulsa and Downey, CA, and earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Bill served as an Army officer before launching a long career as a pilot with American Airlines, retiring as Captain in 1999. A dedicated sailor and skier, Bill met his wife Chris at the Corinthian Yacht Club, where he took on the role of Commodore. He later became part of the St. Francis Yacht Club and volunteered for race committees. After years of competitive sailing, he bought a motor yacht named “Jazz,” creating wonderful summer memories with family and friends at Tinsley Island. Bill was also passionate about music; he formed a rock band and started the jazz quartet “The Bill Canada Jazz Experience.” He is survived by his wife Chris and son Rusty, who will always hold him close in their hearts. A celebration of his life is planned for the spring.Source link
