Halton police have made several arrests related to a series of break-ins that took place in Burlington and Oakville last November.

According to officers, the suspects chose homes where the occupants were away during the day, spending time scouting before breaking in.

The thieves reportedly forced open front doors that were locked and took cash, jewelry, and other valuable items, mainly from bedrooms.

“Residents in the Orchard and Alton Village neighborhoods of Burlington as well as residents of north Burlington and Oakville were directly impacted, and our investigators worked tirelessly to identify and charge those responsible,” said Halton Regional Police Service Deputy Chief Roger Wilkie in a statement.

The investigation into these break-ins involved cooperation between Halton police and nearby law enforcement agencies from York and Peel regions.

“This investigation required extensive video canvassing, and investigators worked closely with neighboring police services to identify those responsible for these offenses,” said 3 District Supt. Dave Costantini in a statement.

After their investigation, police arrested 44-year-old Clayton Mc Farlane from Oshawa and 33-year-old Darnyl Campbell from Grimsby. Both men face four counts of break-and-enter along with four counts of disguising with intent.

Mc Farlane and Campbell appeared at a Milton courthouse on March 6, where they were remanded into custody.

Authorities believe the suspects might be linked to more incidents, so they released their photos to help residents recognize them.

If anyone has information regarding this case, they’re urged to contact police at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Halton Crime Stoppers on their website.
