A federal offender who had gone missing and was suspected to be in the Waterloo Region is now back in custody.

Evan Haney’s sentence includes multiple charges, such as assault with a weapon, breaking and entering, along with theft and fraud.

According to OPP, the 29-year-old has connections to Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Milton, and Newfoundland.

However, on Wednesday morning, OPP announced that Haney was located and re-arrested in Barrie.

He was serving a two-year and three-month sentence for various convictions including assault with a weapon and breaking and entering.
