We are heartbroken to share the news of David Clarence Sawyer’s passing. He left us at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus on Friday, November 7, at the age of 70. David was a loving husband to Susan Sawyer (nee Garant). He was a caring father to David (Amber), Stephanie, Carrolyn, Ed, and Amy. As a proud grandfather, he enjoyed the company of his 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. David was also a brother to Susan and the late Tom (who is survived by Klara). He will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (nee Maxwell) Sawyer. David had many years of dedicated service as a locomotive engineer with CP Rail. He loved spending summers at his cottage in Grand Bend and enjoyed being on the water. Winters were spent in Florida where he cherished time with his family, especially creating memories with his grandchildren. Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Banwell Funeral Home, located at 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 2pm-5pm and again from 7pm-9pm. Following this, cremation will occur. Contributions made in David’s memory to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
