The family is heartbroken to share the news of Lillian Marguerite Fraser from New Glasgow, who previously lived in West River Station. She passed away on Friday, October 3rd, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.
Margie was born to Hugh and Beatrice (Frampton) Hoegg in Stellarton.
She dedicated many years as a member and employee of the Pictou County Co-Op. Additionally, she served as a past president and lifetime member of the Pictou West Liberal Association. Margie also volunteered at the Aberdeen Hospital gift shop for many years, was part of the Eastern Star and IODE, and helped out at the IODE nearly new store. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Gairloch where she contributed to the Ladies Aid and AMS.
Margie took great pride in being a mother to three daughters and six sons. She is survived by her daughters Rosalie (Serge) Lavoie, Cathy (Jack) Lewis; sons John (Kelly), Glen (Kim), Eldred (Lori), Derek (Helen); along with daughter-in-law Kathy Mac Naughton. She had 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and is also remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Margie was predeceased by her husband Robert W. “Bert” Fraser, her daughter Barb, son-in-law Bill Hennigar, as well as sons David and Robbie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 9th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Eagles Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Friday, October 10th at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Gairloch, led by Rev. Bonnie Langille and Rev. Charles Mc Pherson.
