It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father, husband, Grandad, and dear friend, Carl Allen O’Connor. He left us at the age of 83 on December 19, 2025. Carl died peacefully in Thunder Bay, Ontario, surrounded by family. Born in Dartmouth, NS, he spent most of his adult life in Toronto and King Township. The east coast always held a special place in his heart; he made frequent trips to visit his large family there. Carl was passionate about hunting and fishing and had many hobbies. He loved fly fishing and was skilled at building rods and tying flies. His adventures took him on numerous fishing trips to BC, Labrador, and Iceland for salmon or lake fish but especially enjoyed fly fishing for rainbow trout in his favorite local rivers. He hosted many fly-tying nights with friends, participated in fishing conventions, and wrote several articles as an expert on the subject. A dedicated hunter all his life, he trained dogs that could retrieve expertly. Hunting led Carl to Sweden and across Canada; he always returned home with a successful catch. Alongside this passion for nature, he was also a talented mechanical contractor, licensed plumber, handyman, guitar player and singer, craftsman woodworker golfer alpine skier tennis player and squash player. Wherever he went he made friends easily and had a good joke ready to share. Carl was a wonderful husband to Joanne and a proud father to Noel (Cristina), Jordan, Nicole (Lee), as well as Grandad to Spencer Riley Sydney and Ivy. He will be missed by so many who appreciated his warm smile stories kind spirit optimism and sense of humor.
