It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the news of our Mom, Anne Elizabeth Dooley’s passing.
Mom was born on September 13, 1942, as the only daughter of the late Christine Chisholm.
Growing up in Westville, Mom graduated from Westville High School and later attended Maritime Business College. Some of her happiest moments were spent working at Bingo and dancing at Saturday Night dances, where she met our dad, Medford.
Together they raised their five children along with their special foster daughter Mary. After 51 years of marriage, Dad passed away in 2014. We were thrilled when Mom found love again with “her first boyfriend from high school,” George Dooley. They got married in 2016 and just recently celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary. The last years of Mom’s life with George filled her days with happiness and laughter, blending their families into one.
She is survived by her husband, George Dooley; sons Louie, Chris, Calvin (Sonya), Bill (Sharon); daughter and best friend Jessica Mac Donald (Walter); and special foster daughter Mary Chennell (Jimmy). Her pride and joy were her only grandchildren, Tysha Brar (Sahil) and her little Annie Mae; step-sons Wade Dooley (Brenda), Kevin Dooley (Darla); step-daughter Lynette; step-grandchildren Steven (Katelyn), Nick, Brandon, Jeremy (Emma); cousin Jean Mac Kinnon who felt like a sister to her; brothers-in-law Bill Stevens, Calvin Wright, Eddie Stevens (Lenora), Myles Stevens (Jean); sister-in-law Angeline Stevens; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by her husband Medford Stevens; Aunt Catherine Mac Millan Reekie; cousin Doris Mac Master; brothers-in-law Lawson (Lollie) Stevens and Farrell Mac Kenzie; sisters-in-law Ina Cameron, Rhoda Mac Kenzie, and Audrey Wright.
Mom had a heart as big as a mountain and cared deeply for everyone she met. Her home was always welcoming to those she loved. Above all else came the Lord who guided everything she did. Her faith remained strong even until the very end when she said “God is so good.”
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 23 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Eagles Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Holy Name in Westville on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
If you’d like to make a donation in Mom’s memory, please consider the Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to VON staff members from ER along with the palliative care team for their kindness towards mom during this time.
“If love could have saved you mom, you would have lived forever.”
