Great news for Costco lovers – a new wholesale store is on its way to the Greater Toronto Area, opening in 2027.
With the site approval finalized for an Oakville Costco on Wyecroft Road, Mayor Rob Burton has announced that they expect to welcome members in the fall of next year.
This will be Oakville’s first wholesale location since there are no other Costcos in the area.
“With demolition underway, and permits in review, construction is expected to begin this spring, pointing to a likely fall 2027 opening,” Burton shared on social media.
“Regional approvals for traffic signals and site access are secured, with additional infrastructure improvements underway to support this highly anticipated project.”
The proposed store will have over 15,500 square metres of gross floor space and will include around 1,000 parking spots based on the site plan application.
The location is also set to feature a gas station at the northeast corner near the intersection of South Service Road West and Rio Can Boulevard.
Last August, Costco opened another location in the GTA at 107 Harry Walker Pky. S., just west of Highway 404 close to Davis Drive, in Newmarket.
This Newmarket warehouse covers more than 166,000 square feet and boasts an “extensive selection of food offerings,” including a fresh sushi bar-the third one like it in Canada according to Costco.
This new store replaced the previous East Gwillimbury location that had served members at 18182 Yonge St. for nearly 23 years.
The Yonge Street store has reopened as well but now caters specifically to businesses.
Across Canada, Costco has over 10 million members and ranks among the country’s largest retailers with average sales hitting $25 billion each year according to company reports.
In Toronto alone, you can find several Costco locations including those at 42 Overlea Blvd., 100 Billy Bishop Way and 50 Queen Elizabeth Blvd.
In October 2025, they also opened a new Business Centre at Mississauga located at 3115 Argentia Rd.
A new Business Centre was launched in Quebec back in December of last year as well.
While Oakville waits for its newest addition, you can still find another Costco at 1225 Brant St. in Burlington.
