September 15, 2000 – December 6, 2025
With great sadness, we share the news of Shay Timothy (Bug) Boucher’s passing at just 25 years old from Fort William First Nation on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Shay, affectionately known as Bug, was born on September 15, 2000 in Thunder Bay and spent his childhood in Fort William First Nation. He had a passion for hockey and cherished his friends and family. Shay was open-hearted and always went out of his way to help those around him. He held deep love for his family while growing up and made a lasting impact on everyone he met in adulthood. His life was filled with joy and love; being with others brought him immense happiness! Everyone who knew Shay will feel the void left by his absence, but his spirit and love will remain with us forever.
Victoria Mac Laurin is the love of his life now and in every lifetime.
Shay has found peace. Despite the struggles he faced, he inspired many of us to keep moving forward even when he couldn’t do so himself. There’s a quote from A. A. Milne, author of Winnie the Pooh: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard,” which truly reflects our feelings-how grateful we are to have known someone so wonderful. “God always takes the prettiest ones.”
Shay was dearly loved by all his family: his partner Victoria and step-kids Jayce and Zayne; Mom Amanda and Dad Timothy; brothers Gabe, Julian, Chris Jr., and sisters Samantha, Mackenzie, Asha; numerous aunties and uncles, cousins, foster families, and extended relatives.
He was predeceased by father Chris; grandmothers Gail, Joan, Barb, Maureen; grandfathers Percy and Tim.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 with family and friends gathering at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Mission Church for the Funeral Mass at 11:00am led by Father Biju Mathew. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is set for Tuesday evening December 30 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street at James street with Vigil Prayers beginning at 6:00pm.
