Midwestern Ontario is wrapping up the week just like it began – with some lake effect snow. Environment Canada has issued a yellow-level snow squall warning for the whole area. Huron County, Perth County, southern Bruce County, southern Grey County, and northern Wellington County may receive 10 to 15 centimeters of snow on Friday, while Bruce Peninsula and northern Grey County could see between 15 to 25 centimeters of snowfall. “Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate,” the national weather agency said in a statement. Highway 21 between Kincardine and Amberley and Bruce Road 7 from Ripley to Highway 9 remained closed Friday morning. OPP mentioned on social media that they brought in heavy snow removal equipment so crews could clear the roads more effectively. A list of current road closures and event cancellations can be found at CKNXNewsToday.ca/closures. Environment Canada anticipates that the snow squalls will ease off Friday night. For Saturday, flurries are expected to bring about 2 centimeters of snowfall with a high of minus 4 C. Sunday should be partly sunny with a slight chance of flurries and a high of minus 6 C.
