Midwestern Ontario is wrapping up the week just like it began – with lake effect snow. Environment Canada has issued a yellow-level snow squall warning for the whole area. Huron County, Perth County, southern Bruce County, southern Grey County, and northern Wellington County might see between 10 to 15 centimetres of snow from the squalls on Friday, while Bruce Peninsula and northern Grey County could get as much as 15 to 25 centimetres of snowfall. “Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate,” the national weather agency said in a statement. Highway 21 between Kincardine and Amberley and Bruce Road 7 from Ripley to Highway 9 remained closed Friday morning. OPP mentioned on social media that heavy snow removal machinery had been brought in so crews could better clear the snow and reopen the roads. For Saturday, they’re forecasting flurries bringing about 2 centimetres of snowfall with a high of minus 4 C. Sunday should be partly sunny with a slight chance of flurries and a high of minus 6 C.
