A 39-year-old tow truck driver from Richmond Hill is dead after he was hit by a car whereas helping one other motorist close to Belwood Lake, north of Guelph, on Saturday evening.

Police closed Wellington Street 26 between Erin Garafraxa Townline and Sideroad 27 in Erin simply after 9 p.m. after being known as to the collision.

In a launch on Tuesday, Wellington County OPP mentioned officers and different emergency responders have been known as to the world for stories a motorized vehicle had hit a pedestrian, a tow truck operator who was exterior his car whereas helping one other car.

The tow truck driver was taken to an space hospital with “major-life-threatening accidents” police mentioned. He was pronounced dead on Monday.

The motive force of the opposite car was additionally taken to hospital with minor accidents.

Police are asking anybody who could have witnessed the collision or have sprint cam footage of what occurred within the moments leading as much as or together with the collision to contact OPP investigators. Ideas will also be left anonymously at Crime Stoppers.

2nd dying of tow truck operator this month

That is the second time this month a tow truck operator has been killed whereas helping a driver.

On Dec. 3, a 42-year-old man from Kitchener was hit by a blue business tractor trailer whereas serving to a stranded motorist on Freeway 401. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

In that case, the motive force of the truck, a person from Mount Hope, Ont., has been charged with harmful operation inflicting dying and failure to cease after an accident inflicting dying.

That tow truck operator’s dying led to calls from the business for drivers to decelerate close to tow vans.

“It’s a small industry and we all know each other in one way or another. It’s always a concern because everybody knows it could be one of us, any day,” Gary Vandenheuvel, president of the Professional Towing Association of Ontario (PTAO), told .

“Whether it be on a local city street or whether it is on a major highway, people do not give us the respect to — and it’s the law — slow down and move over.”
