Jill Dunlop, MPP for Simcoe North, is thrilled to announce a Free Skate Day for residents of Simcoe North on Jan. 2, 2025.

This occasion gives an thrilling alternative for households and people of all ages to benefit from the season’s out of doors actions, together with ice skating, a cherished Canadian custom.

“We are so fortunate to have access to so many outdoor activities in Simcoe North,” stated MPP Dunlop. “Winter in our region is the perfect time for families to get outdoors and enjoy all that this season has to offer — from skating and snowmobiling to hiking our beautiful trails and skiing. I’m excited to be able to bring the community together for a day of fun on the ice, and to celebrate everything that makes Simcoe North such a special place to live and visit.”

The Free Skate Day will happen on Jan. 2, 2025, with the next skating periods throughout the area:


Penetanguishene Memorial Neighborhood Centre: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Rotary Place, Orillia: 10:45 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.
North Simcoe Sports activities and Recreation Centre, Midland: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Coldwater Neighborhood Centre: 1 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Tay Neighborhood Rink: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This initiative encourages native households and residents to get open air and revel in winter in Simcoe North.

Along with ice skating, the area affords a wide range of winter actions, together with snowmobiling on designated trails, snowboarding, and mountaineering by means of picturesque, snow-covered landscapes.

“Whether you’re gliding across the ice, skiing down a hill, or enjoying the quiet of a winter hike, there’s something for everyone this winter in Simcoe North,” added MPP Dunlop. “Let’s make the most of this season and get out there to enjoy the beauty and excitement that winter brings to our region.”

Residents are inspired to decorate warmly, put on correct winter apparel and convey their very own skates, though rental choices could also be out there at some areas. Please contact the suitable facility for skate rental choices.
