OTTAWA — The federal authorities has signed offers with 9 extra municipalities in Ontario and two in Saskatchewan to handle homelessness.
The agreements are price a mixed $91 million over two years and are supposed to assist the municipalities’ encampment response plans.
These plans embody creating new shelter areas and growing transitional housing choices.
Toronto, Durham, Peel, York, Hamilton, Niagara, Waterloo, Ottawa and Sudbury in Ontario signed offers, as did Saskatoon and Regina.
Housing Minister Nathaniel Erskine-Smith says offers have additionally been reached with all different provinces and territories, with particulars to be introduced within the coming weeks.
He stated Ottawa couldn’t signal provincial partnerships with Ontario and Saskatchewan as a result of these provinces wouldn’t match the federal authorities’s contributions.
