Police say suspect, 57, acquired into battle with arresting officers earlier than being tasered

Police say a landlord-tenant dispute in downtown St. Catharines yesterday afternoon led to a person being Tasered after he allegedly brandished a knife in a threatening method towards two folks then resisted arrest.

At 3:15 p.m. 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of an armed man.

Police stated an worker at a enterprise within the space of St. Paul Avenue and James Avenue obtained info that somebody in entrance of the enterprise was brandishing a knife.

Officers attended and met with two grownup victims, a person and woman.

Police stated a test of the world situated the suspect on foot on James Avenue. 

“When officers tried to arrest the suspect, he resisted arrest and a battle ensued,” police stated. “Officers efficiently deployed a performed power weapon (Taser) and had been capable of arrest the suspect at 4:07 p.m.”

Alain Joseph Cloutier, 57, of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the Felony Code offence of assault with a weapon.

Cloutier was held in custody for a video bail listening to on the Robert S. Okay. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on Aug. 27.
