The Sarnia Sting have signed ahead Matthew Manza to an OHL Scholarship and Growth Settlement.

The 17-year-old is predicted to make his debut on Friday evening when the Sting host the Sudbury Wolves at Progressive Auto Gross sales Enviornment.

Basic Supervisor Dylan Seca commented on the signing.

“Matthew is a participant we’ve been pursuing for fairly a while. He’s a talented participant who can produce scoring possibilities,” stated Seca. “He’s a confirmed objective scorer and with no consideration shot we imagine he compliments our group transferring ahead. With the NCAA rule modifications we felt this commerce and now signing is yet one more inflow of expertise into our lineup. We’re thrilled to welcome Matthew and the Manza household to Sarnia.”

The NCAA is permitting gamers with Canadian Hockey League expertise to compete at U.S. schools beginning subsequent season.

The Sting acquired the rights to Manza from the Kingston Frontenacs on January 7.

Sarnia gave up a tenth spherical decide in 2027, and conditional fourth spherical picks in 2027 and 2028.

Manza, who has dedicated to enjoying for Ohio State College, was a ninth spherical decide of the Frontenacs in 2023.

The Mississauga-native spent the 2023-24 season with the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (OJHL) Toronto Patriots the place he tallied 26 targets and 23 assists by means of 49 video games performed.

He earned recognition because the OJHL’s Rookie of the Yr, a nomination to the OJHL’s First Prospect Staff, in addition to the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Prime Rookie honours.

This season Manza has suited up in 12 video games for the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL, recording two targets and 4 assists.
