Officers at Erie Shores Healthcare are celebrating the official opening of the hospital’s everlasting MRI suite.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning with the Ontario Well being Minister in attendance.

Sylvia Jones introduced the province is investing $1.3-million which is welcomed because the group has solely raised half its fundraising aim of $3-million.

“By investing in Erie Shores Healthcare’s first-ever MRI machine, our authorities is taking one other step to make it simpler and sooner for extra folks and households in Leamington and throughout Essex County to entry key diagnostic companies of their group,” stated Jones.

Along with the funding, Ontario will present $540,800 to broaden the MRI’s hours of operation.

The MRI suite was introduced over two years in the past, together with a brand new MRI at Windsor Regional Hospital.

“The enlargement of MRI companies at Erie Shores Healthcare is one other instance of well being care being supplied when and the place folks want it,” stated Essex MPP Anthony Leardi. “Extra well being care nearer to residence is a large profit for our area.”

The announcement is a part of the 50 new MRI machines in 43 hospitals throughout Ontario. It is also including one other 100,000 MRI and CT scans at group surgical and diagnostic centres throughout the province annually to chop wait instances for a scan to twenty-eight days.

In October, the hospital introduced it had accomplished greater than 1,000 MRI scans utilizing its short-term MRI machine.
