The streets of Downtown Barrie had been packed Saturday night for the annual Santa Claus Parade and Noella Tree Lighting Celebration.


It was the seventy fifth anniversary of the parade, which featured 75 floats, the standard bands and teams, a route that spanned from Lakeshore Drive to Dunlop Road, and naturally, the massive man in crimson.


“I think after Remembrance Day is done everyone is ready to celebrate,” mentioned Ashley Chappell, supervisor of particular occasions for the Metropolis of Barrie. “I think this is the kickoff for a lot of people on the holiday season.”


The parade route led to Meridian Place and was adopted by the annual lighting of the 30-foot Winter Tree.

The festivities had been delivered by the Metropolis of Barrie, the Downtown Barrie BIA and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce.
