Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to the scene of a critical single-vehicle motorcar collision that occurred on Freeway 28 on Thursday evening.

Simply prior to eight:30pm on December 12, 2024, Peterborough County OPP have been dispatched to a critical single-vehicle collision on Freeway 28 simply north of County Street 33 in Douro-Dummer Township. The decision was a results of a ‘crash detection’ operate on the driving force’s mobile phone.

Officers and emergency crews attended the scene and located a pickup truck on its facet within the ditch, pinned up towards a tree. The automobile appeared to have been travelling northbound when it left the roadway. Freeway 28 was closed between Centre Street and County Street 33. Hearth crews labored on extricating the lone occupant of the automobile.

As soon as faraway from the automobile, the driving force, a 17-year-old male from Selwyn, was transported to an area hospital however was later transported by ORNGE Air to a Toronto trauma centre as a result of extent of their accidents.

Roads remained closed for a number of hours whereas emergency crews handled the collision and police members skilled in collision reconstruction, measured and documented the scene. The freeway has since been re-opened.
