A Labrador retriever that went missing after an alleged carjacking in Etobicoke has been found in a Brampton residence, along with the suspect, thanks to a tip from the public, Toronto police said.
Four-year-old Roxy went missing on Wednesday after her owner’s SUV was stolen with her inside. The alleged carjacking happened around 8:50 a.m. in the area of Bloor Street W. and The East Mall, Toronto police said in a release.
“She was in good health and in good condition and [police] are currently taking her home to reunite her with her family who are very relieved to have her back,” said Toronto police spokesperson Stephanie Miceli.
The dog’s owner, Josh Miller, said he had just dropped his daughter to school when a suspect approached his car.
“He just said, ‘Get out of the car right now or I’m going to have to hurt some of the kids at the school,’ something along those lines,” Miller previously told CBC Toronto.
Miller said it was only after he got out of the car that he realized Roxy was still inside.
“She’s like a part of the family, and yeah, we just hope obviously that we get her back, but even more importantly, that she doesn’t get hurt,” he told CBC.

Miller’s stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee was found Thursday overnight in the area of Hurontario Street and Mayfield Road in Brampton, but without Roxy or the suspect, according to police.
Police say the suspect behind the alleged carjacking is now in custody. Information on charges are expected later on Thursday.
