Toronto climate: Freezing rain warning issued for components of GTA

Components of the GTA stay underneath a freezing rain warning this morning as Surroundings Canada warns of slippery driving situations in the present day.


The freezing rain warning is in impact for areas east and north of Toronto, together with Pickering, Oshawa, Newmarket, Georgina, and Barrie.


College bus cancellations have been reported in Durham Area earlier this morning because of the inclement climate.


“A low pressure system is approaching southern Ontario and will bring a mixture of precipitation to the area,” Surroundings Canada wrote in its climate advisory.


“Precipitation is expected to begin as freezing rain or rain this morning. The freezing rain is expected to transition to rain or drizzle near midday as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.”


Drivers are urged to train warning as a consequence of slick situations.


“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” the advisory continued.


CP24 Meteorologist Invoice Coulter mentioned the freezing rain is predicted to proceed north of town till this night.


Toronto isn’t anticipated to see freezing rain however showers are anticipated in the present day within the metropolis.


“We see these moderate bands of rain through to about 2 p.m. and then it will back off to some drizzle,” Coulter mentioned. “But it is going to be quite active over the next several days.”


Toronto will see a interval of delicate temperatures over the following few days, with a excessive of 4 C on Monday, 7 C on Tuesday, and 5 C on Wednesday. Colder temperatures return on Thursday, when the mercury drops all the way down to -5 C on Thursday and -4 C on Friday.
