Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney is going through calls to resign from the city’s high political place, two months after council voted non-confidence within the mayor.


Coun. Kyle Cybulski launched a movement at Tuesday’s City of Renfrew council assembly, calling on Mayor Sidney to “resign instantly.” It handed by a vote of 5-1, with Reeve Peter Emon the lone vote in opposition.


In January, members voted 4-3 in favour of a non-confidence movement in opposition to Sidney, expressing issues over the mayor’s dealing with of the enlargement to Renfrew’s Ma-Te-Means Exercise Centre, now often known as the myFM Centre.  The worth tag for the enlargement has jumped from $18 million to $35 million.


Earlier than being elected mayor, Sidney spearheaded the enlargement mission for the Ma-Te-Means Exercise Centre as chair of the recreation committee.
