Garfield Bain Nicholson, 79, handed away peacefully October 21, 2024, on the Aberdeen Hospital Intensive Care Unit. He was born on Could 7, 1945, in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late John Bain Nicholson and Kathleen Beryl (Stewart)Nicholson.
Garfield was a very long time worker of the City of Stellarton. Earlier to that, Garfield labored many roles together with mining, Trenton Works, and the Golden Penny bottle alternate.
He married Alice Hill on Jan 3, 1975 they usually raised two kids in Stellarton.
The MacGregor Mine catastrophe was very influential in his life as his father Bain tragically perished within the mine.
Garfield beloved internet hosting tailgate events at his Hoyt Avenue tackle through the summer time. Garfield is survived by his spouse, Alice (Hill) Nicholson; son: Allan (Nicki) Nicholson, Calgary, Alberta; daughter: Angela (Greg) McDonald, Stellarton, Nova Scotia; grandchildren: Danielle, Marcy (Jake), and Carlee (Luke) McDonald, Stellarton; Quinn and Wyatt Nicholson, and Rachel and Haley Anderson, Calgary; brother: Tommy (Denise) Nicholson; sisters: Ceta (Allan) Castillo; Romaine (Dusty) MacKinnon; brother-in-law: Wilfred Pettipas; Sister-in-law: Catherine Nicholson; many nieces and nephews. Along with his mother and father, he was predeceased by brother Stephen Nicholson, sister Diane Pettipas, and a brother and sister in infancy.
A viewing shall be held on Friday October 25, 2024 on the MacQuarries Funeral House on 18 Acadia Avenue, Stellarton from 2-4pm and 7-9pm
A celebration of life shall be held on the Royal Canadian Legion Department 28, 140 MacKay St., Stellarton, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2 p.m.
