A listeria outbreak in plant-based milk drinks has been linked to a producer in Pickering, Ontario, the Canadian Meals Inspection Company (CFIA) says.
In early July, the CFIA issued a recall advising the general public to not eat or promote sure plant-based drinks from two Canadian manufacturers underneath Danone Canada. This included Silk’s almond, coconut and oat milk, in addition to three flavours of Nice Worth’s almond milk.
As of July 30, 18 instances have been reported in 4 provinces throughout the nation, and two individuals have died from the an infection in Ontario, in response to the Ministry of Well being.

In a information launch on Wednesday, the company revealed that it has related the outbreak to third-party producer Joriki Inc., positioned in Pickering.
“Our highest priority is always food safety and the health of Canadians,” the CFIA mentioned within the assertion.
“That is why with the full cooperation of Danone Canada and its third-party manufacturer, Joriki Inc. (Pickering Ontario), alongside Public Health Ontario, the CFIA worked quickly to recall the implicated Silk and Great Value brand products on July 8, 2024.”

The CFIA says each Danone Canada and Joriki Inc. instantly halted manufacturing and distribution of all implicated merchandise.

“Danone Canada and Joriki Inc. (Pickering) have been fully engaged in the ongoing food safety investigation to determine the source of the contamination and are implementing corrective measures including enhanced safety and production protocols.”
The CFIA mentioned it can proceed to observe and assess the method to make sure the security of Canadians.
