A new report from Uber has named Ontario as home to Canada’s ultimate party spot, and it turns out that Toronto isn’t the one claiming this title.
In its fifth annual Nightlife Index released on Wednesday, Oct. 28, the ridesharing service announced that London, Ontario, is ranked as the top city for partying in the entire country.
This recognition makes sense considering the city’s large student population, but it’s quite an achievement for a smaller city to outshine Toronto, which has a population almost ten times greater.
This is now the fourth time London has taken first place, having only lost this position once to Toronto back in 2024.
Interestingly, Toronto didn’t even make it into the top three cities for partying. Winnipeg came in second place while Lethbridge, Alberta, took third.
Toronto ended up at fifth place overall, nestled between Kitchener-Waterloo at fourth and Halifax at sixth. As someone who’s lived in both Halifax and Toronto, I’d argue those rankings should be switched around.
The list was compiled using anonymized data from Uber and Uber Eats about late-night trips and food orders. So perhaps I need to reconsider my opinion on that.
The study also indicated that New Year’s Eve, Halloween Night, and Halloween Weekend are recognized as the biggest celebrations for partying (which isn’t surprising), with Canadians staying out latest during Halloween on average.
As for hangover remedies? Canadians are ordering plenty of them too. The favorite? Classic hot coffee tops the list followed by hash browns, breakfast wraps, bagels, and iced coffee – all staples after a night out.
Here’s to another exciting year of celebrating across Canada!
