Trevor George Wheeler, a 70-year-old from Vaughan, Ontario, has been given a life sentence for the second-degree murder of his wife, Estella Wheeler. The ruling came from Ontario Superior Court Justice Laura Bird in Newmarket. This tragic event took place in March 2024, when Estella, who was a dedicated Grade 7 and 8 teacher at Africentric Alternative School in North York, was killed at their home. Trevor was found guilty in September 2026 and will be unable to apply for parole for 13 years.
Estella’s commitment to her students and the community made a significant difference, as mentioned by Norgie Williams, a co-chair at the parents’ council, who praised her constant dedication to her students’ welfare.
