Please see bottom of article for most recently updated information. This morning in Kingston’s Inner Harbour was quite busy as first responders rushed to the scene following two separate fires in the area.Kingston Fire & Rescue responded first to the vicinity of Kingston Marina and Metal Craft Marine Inc., located at the north end of Wellington Street just after 2:40 a. m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. The emergency response app Pulse Point indicated that firefighters were called out for a “vehicle fire,” which turned out to be a boat.According to Kingston Police, they were summoned to help Kingston Fire & Rescue at the scene.“We responded to a call for service regarding a boat engulfed in flames,” Constable Anthony Colangeli said.Police and fire crews working as flames consume a boat around 2:45 a. m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. Kingstonist is seeking additional details from the fire department about what caused the fire and any investigation results. However, roughly six-and-a-half hours later, local firefighters were dispatched again to the marina area where several vehicles and boats are parked along the waterfront. Pulse Point also reported this incident as another “vehicle fire.”While Kingston Fire & Rescue only remained at this incident for approximately 50 minutes, police returned to assist once more. It's unclear if there was an actual re-ignition or if any fire occurred this time around. Multiple police vehicles attended including those from the Forensic Identification Unit who remained in place by noon.Colangeli stated he couldn’t provide specifics about either incident since the investigation into “the cause of the fire” was ongoing as of about 10:15 a. m., and officers had not yet completed their overall assessment of the scene. The burnt-out boat can be seen behind another boat near a shipping container and I-beam at Kingston Marina. Photo by Kingstonist. When asked if these incidents were deemed suspicious , Colangeli mentioned that they’re currently being “treated as suspicious,” but warned that investigations are still very new so “details could change.”Kingstonist didn’t get an immediate response from Kingston Fire & amp; Rescue.
