The Canadian and Ontario governments have teamed up to invest almost $9 billion to assist the province’s workers and businesses in industries severely impacted by U. S. tariffs, such as steel and automotive, along with funding for infrastructure projects in the Ring of Fire.
This collaboration was revealed on Wednesday during a joint press conference held by Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Doug Ford, outlining several funding areas.
Approximately $5.5 billion will be allocated over five years to support the steel industry, which includes efforts for diversification and access to new markets, with $1.67 billion provided by the province.
