Two residents of Leamington are facing multiple charges after their vehicle crashed into a house on County Road 20 in Kingsville early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 5:12 a. m. and led to a fire that consumed both the vehicle and the home.

The Ontario Provincial Police responded but found no suspects inside the vehicle, which had been reported as stolen.

While they were looking into the crash and fire, police received a report about a possibly impaired driver on Main Street in Kingsville. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver deliberately hit one of their cruisers before fleeing the scene.

A little while later, that same vehicle returned to the original crash site on County Road 20, hitting another police cruiser as well as an ambulance and a fire truck.

The driver fled once more.

Eventually, two suspects were arrested: a 28-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman from Leamington.

The man faces 22 charges in total, including four counts of dangerous driving, two counts of possession of stolen property, theft over $5,000, two counts of evading police officers, two counts of assaulting an officer with a weapon, three counts of failing to comply with probation terms, criminal negligence, and four counts for not stopping after an accident.

The woman is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, criminal negligence, theft over $5,000, and two counts of possession of stolen property.

The man remains in custody awaiting his bail hearing set for Tuesday. The woman has been released and is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on January 13, 2027.
