Ontario Provincial Police report that a 34-year-old woman, who was initially arrested in May due to theft and fraud complaints at an Orillia hospital, is now facing 65 additional charges.
Authorities say they found more victims and carried out several search warrants, leading to charges against her that include 36 counts of fraud and 14 counts of theft, among others.
These charges are linked to multiple incidents at hospitals across Ontario, including Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto, Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Trillium Health Partners’ Mississauga hospital, and West Park Health Care Centre in Toronto.
Police released images showing piles of clothes and furniture that were collected during the investigation.
The Burlington woman was first charged back in May for disobeying a court order and providing false information.
The OPP believes there might be more victims out there and is urging patients, visitors, and staff at these hospitals to check their bank statements for any unauthorized transactions.
