The Peel Regional Police in Canada have made a brand new arrest in reference to the current assault on a Hindu temple in Brampton. Inderjeet Gosal, 35, was apprehended on charges of assault and wielding a weapon throughout final week’s unrest. Notably, a gaggle of Khalistan sympathisers disrupted a consular occasion attended by Indian officers at Brampton’s Hindu Mandir.

In line with a press release from the Peel Regional Police, Gosal was launched below sure circumstances and is predicted to look earlier than the Ontario Court docket of Justice in Brampton, as reported by Information 18.

Gosal is Sikhs for Justice coordinator for Canada, Ontario Chronicle reported. The US-based SFJ is banned in India.

A broadly circulated video on social media reveals the assailants wielding sticks and attacking Hindu worshippers whereas elevating slogans and carrying flags linked to the Khalistan motion in Brampton. Comparable disturbances had been noticed at consular camps in Surrey and Vancouver.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau strongly condemned the incident, asserting that Sikh and Hindu communities in Canada shouldn’t be held chargeable for the unrest.

“The violence we have seen in South Asian communities across the country over the past few nights, let me be very clear. The individuals who are inciting violence and division and hatred in no way represent either the Sikh community or the Hindu community in Canada,” Trudeau stated whereas addressing the Home of Commons.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tore into Canadian management over the incident, asking them to make sure justice within the case. “I strongly condemn the deliberate assault on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly makes an attempt to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence won’t ever weaken India’s resolve. We count on the Canadian authorities to make sure justice and uphold the rule of regulation,” the PM posted on X.

Notably, the relations between India and Canada have been witnessing their worst part for the reason that latter alleged India’s involvement within the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
