200 individuals secured part-time positions, with full-time jobs remaining unchanged.
Unemployment rates have remained stable in Kingston and across the country.
Statistics Canada has the unemployment data for August.
The rate in Kingston was at 5.5 percent, a drop from July’s 5.7 percent.
This slight decrease came as a result of an addition of 200 part-time jobs, while full-time employment figures stayed the same.
In nearby Belleville-Quinte West, the rate dropped by 1.3 percent to reach 5.4 percent.
Ontario’s unemployment rate rose by 0.1 percent to stand at 6.8 percent in August.
The national unemployment rate for August remained steady at 6.4 percent compared to last month.
A total of 42,000 jobs were lost across Canada during August.
