Ontario Provincial Police in Lanark have identified the individual who died after a suspicious incident that has been ruled a homicide.
According to police, officers responded to a call at Last Duel Park on April 12 shortly after 3 p. m. where they found someone with life-threatening injuries.
The person was taken to a trauma center and was later pronounced dead.
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Christo Allison Richards from Ottawa.
Authorities believe this was a targeted incident, and there are no indications of any wider threat. The park has reopened, and the heavy police presence in the area has diminished.
Police are continuing their investigation and are actively keeping an eye on the situation.
This investigation is being carried out by the Lanark County OPP, under the supervision of the Criminal Investigation Branch, along with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Help is also being provided by the Emergency Response Team, Forensic Identification Services, and the Regional Support Team.
