Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have announced that they’ve elevated some of the charges related to the murder of 34-year-old Christo Allison Richards, who was discovered seriously injured in a park in Perth back in April.
Officers responded to Last Duel Park on April 12 and found Richards suffering from critical injuries. He was later declared dead at a hospital.
At the end of April, OPP charged two men from Ottawa, 34-year-old Joseph Madore and 28-year-old Brayton Kennedy, with second-degree murder.
According to a news release from OPP on Thursday, those charges have now been escalated to first-degree murder, indicating that the alleged killing was thought to be premeditated.
Both Kennedy and Madore are still at large, according to OPP. They believe Madore may be hiding out in rural B. C., while Kennedy might be in New Brunswick.
In May, OPP apprehended and charged 46-year-old Michael Lewis with conspiracy to commit murder. A 32-year-old woman from Ottawa was taken into custody in B. C. in June and charged as an accessory after the fact to murder.
