With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of Trent Kenneth Joseph Duchene (Mendowegan) on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
Trent was born at Geraldton District Hospital on May 29, 1991.
He will be deeply missed by his father, Basil Mendowegan (Elaina); brothers, Kelly, Owen (Heather), Basil Jr., and Robbie-Jo Mendowegan; partner and mother of his children, Rhiannon Horton; aunts, Roseline “Posey” Mugaby (Dennis), and Merna Mendowegan; as well as many cousins and other family members. Most importantly, Trent is survived by his precious children: Bennett, Kayde, Breyer; along with his two bonus kids, Natalie and Dominick.
He is predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph Matasawagon “Packsack”, and Margaret Matasawagon; great-grandparents John and Marie Matasawagon; aunts Beverly Mc Kay, Joann Mendowegan-Towegish, Nelda Legarde, and Norma Vaillancourt; and his older brother Brandon Mendowegan (2021).
A service will take place in Ginoogaming First Nation at a later date.
