(SCMS) to establish its Canadian manufacturing and operations center in Burlington, Ontario. The new facility will introduce cutting-edge modular construction technology to Ontario, helping meet the rising demand for housing and community infrastructure throughout the province while creating skilled jobs in advanced manufacturing. A subsidiary of Japan’s SEKISUI Chemical Co., Ltd., SCMS brings over 50 years of experience in modular construction from Japan. They will utilize advanced manufacturing techniques that allow for up to 90% of building work to be completed in a controlled factory setting before being assembled on-site. This method can enhance construction efficiency, improve quality control, shorten project timelines, and promote sustainable building practices. SCMS provides precise steel-frame modular building systems across various sectors including low- and mid-rise residential projects, educational facilities, institutional buildings, and commercial developments. The company already works with clients in Northern Ontario and aims to explore further opportunities across the province while expanding into broader Canadian and North American markets.
