Authorities report that a woman has lost her life after being pulled into Lake Ontario at Jack Darling Memorial Park in Mississauga.

A woman has died following an event at Lake Ontario in Mississauga, according to police.

Peel Regional Police state that around 10:30 p. m. on Saturday night, emergency services were called regarding a woman who had reportedly been “swept into the water” at Jack Darling Memorial Park.

The 22-acre park is situated in the Lorne Park neighborhood at 1180 Lakeshore Rd. W., west of Mississauga Road. It features picnic areas, tennis courts, a leash-free zone, a native tallgrass prairie, a spray pad, a toboggan hill, trails, and an unsupervised beach.

“Following search and rescue efforts, Mississauga Fire located the woman at approximately 11:15 p. m.,” investigators told CP24 on Sunday morning.

They mentioned she was taken to the hospital where she was declared deceased.

“At this time, we have not been able to locate and notify her next of kin,” a media officer said, adding as a result they are “unable to provide any further details regarding the deceased until that notification has taken place.”
