We are heartbroken to share that Argio Raimondi passed away on June 21, 2026.
Argio was born in Piacenza, Italy, where he spent his early years until the age of 21. He started working in textiles at just 14 and got a chance to come to Canada for what was supposed to be a two-year contract in the textile industry. He fell in love with the place, so he and his wife Elda decided to stay.
For many years, he managed a sweater-making shop (Rare Knits) in Stellarton while also working full time at Michelin tire for 35 years.
Argio had a passion for sports and was always eager to learn. He taught himself English by watching TV commercials and reading World War II books, having been born during that time.
He loved chatting with everyone he met. Coffee at Mc Donald’s or A& W brought him joy along with all the friends he made there.
His big heart and charming personality were rare gifts.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him: Brothers Raimondo and Tarcisio; sisters Anna Maria, Lazzarina, and Francesca; honorary grandson Draven Mac Donald; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Argio is preceded in death by his wife Elda; parents Severino and Maria Raimondi; and his sister Giuliana.
Cremation will take place, and no service will be held at this time.
If you’d like to honor Argio’s memory, donations can be made to the SPCA or the Dementia Foundations Program.
