Joseph “Joe” Morrison

Joseph “Joe” Morrison, 87, who once lived in Union Centre, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at the Aberdeen Hospital with his loving children by his side.

Joe was born to the late Robert and Latishia (Taylor) Morrison.

In 1958, Joe found the love of his life, Mary Marguerite Mac Eachern, and they got married. Together, they raised a wonderful family of seven kids. Joe was all about family and cherished every moment spent with them.

Over the years, Joe worked in various roles. He farmed, worked in the woods, mined at the Mac Bain Mine, participated in drag racing events, and operated heavy machinery.

A true horse enthusiast throughout his life, Joe had a special fondness for horse pulls. His favorite horses were Buster and Buddy. He also adored dogs; Ariel and Patty held a special place in his heart. Additionally, Joe had a passion for antique cars and loved going to car shows.

His children-Joe Jr. (Teresa), Louise (Doug), Carol (David), Faye (Mark), Dolorisa “Doll” (Russell), and Linda (David)-will carry on his memory along with 12 grandchildren that include the late Jennifer Chalmers; 8 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters; his sister Faye (Jimmy); as well as many caring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Marguerite; son John James; parents Robert and Latishia; and three brothers along with five sisters.

You can pay your respects during visitation on Friday, August 14, from 2-4 p. m. and again from 7-9 p. m. at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 15 at 11 a. m. at Holy Name Parish in Westville with burial following at Holy Name Cemetery. A reception will take place afterward in the church hall.

If you’d like to make a donation in Joe’s memory, please consider supporting the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.

Joe will be greatly missed by his family as well as everyone who knew him.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all staff members of the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and care during this time.
