Remembering Trudy Trepanier, 82

With heavy hearts, we the family of “Trudy” (nee Makinson) Trepanier share the news of her peaceful passing on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, at VON Sakura House in Woodstock, at the age of 82. Trudy was born in Buchans, Newfoundland, to the late Norman Makinson and Teresa (nee Duff) Makinson. During her career, she dedicated ten years as a Registered Nurse at Lakeshore General Hospital in Montreal before retiring in 1975. She is survived by her beloved husband Yvon Trepanier from Tillsonburg. About 25 years ago, they moved to Tillsonburg to enjoy their retirement. Trudy was an active member of St. Mary’s R. C. Church and also participated in St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League.

She will be fondly remembered by her husband Yvon and their son Donald Trepanier (wife Diane) from Montreal, Quebec. Trudy is also survived by her sister ‘Peggy’ Horan (late Jerry) from St. Thomas and predeceased by her brother Thomas Makinson (late wife Victoria). Several nieces and nephews along with their families also survive her.

In accordance with Trudy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends, neighbors, and relatives are invited to join a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026 at 11:00 a. m. at St. Mary’s R. C. Church located at 51 Venison St. W., Tillsonburg with Rev. Fr. Seejo John officiating. Inurnment will follow in Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium 9. All attendees are welcomed to join the family for a reception immediately after Mass in the basement hall of St. Mary’s Church where everyone who knew Trudy can share memories and photos or express condolences or make memorial donations to “Von Oxford” (for Sakura House), “St. Mary’s Church,” or “Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation” through Trudy’s online tribute page at www. verhoevefuneralhomes. com or by contacting Maurice J.
