With great sadness, we share the news of Christopher Long’s passing on May 4, 2026. Chris was a loving father, son, brother, and friend who lived his life with dedication, quiet strength, and an immense love for his family.
Christopher will be profoundly missed by his children, Leah, Wesley, and Scott, along with his step-grandchildren Carter, Sienna, Tyler, and Olivia. He is fondly remembered by his mother Audrey and father Wesley. Christopher also leaves behind his siblings Pam, Tom, Rick, Brenda, Penny, and Sandy. He was a proud father-in-law to Chris, Shirleen, and Kyle; plus his loyal dog Mando was always by his side as a true companion.
Chris had a fulfilling career marked by hard work in various fields. He trained as a Chef at Georgian College and worked at The Muskoka Centre, Sloan’s Restaurant, and Andre’s. Later on, he followed his passion for nature by becoming a Forest Technician through Sir Sandford Fleming College before joining the Ministry of Natural Resources. His career path led him to public service as a Case Worker for ODSP with the Ontario Public Service and then as a Correctional Officer at Fenbrook Institution. In more recent years, he enjoyed operating heavy machinery as an Excavator Operator with Long’s Landscaping.
Christopher cherished the simple moments in life that brought him joy. He loved spending time working alongside his son Wesley on Kubota tractors and excavators while enjoying drives in his truck. Campfires shared with family and friends provided him comfort; he also loved to unwind watching superhero films or sci-fi movies.
A man of many talents and interests-Chris liked building bushcraft kits and tying ropes or knots while enjoying “Working Horses with Jim.” He had a knack for storytelling too; he’d share exciting tales about flying planes or driving his Cutlass car along with racing motorcycles or caring for horses-stories that will stay alive in the memories of those who heard them.
In honor of Christopher’s spirit, donations can be made in his memory to the Kubota North Excavator Rodeo or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
He’ll be remembered for his strength,, stories,, quiet guidance,, and deep love for family.
